ARMED ROBBERY AT MOTEL

At approximately 10:04 p.m. on January 19, 2011 Beaufort Police Officers were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery at America’s Best Inn motel at 2448 Boundary Street. An employee reported that two men wearing ski masks and hooded sweatshirts entered the lobby demanding money. One of the subjects was armed with a small handgun. After stealing the money the subjects fled. A perimeter was set up and a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office tracking unit responded. The suspects were not located during the search and no injuries were reported during the incident. The suspects were described by witnesses as two African American men in their late teens to early twenties. One was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants while the other was wearing a black and red hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants. Both were described as medium build and height. This motel was previously robbed on January 3rd. Any one with information on this case is requested to call the dispatch office at 524-2777 or Investigator Dowling at 322-7950.
