Air Operations Exercise

BEAUFORT, SC (April 27/10:30 AM) – In preparation for the upcoming hurricane season, a multi-agency field exercise has been planned for Friday, April 30th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.

This exercise is designed to test the air operations strategies that have been developed in the event of flooding incidents that would necessitate aerial rescues of victims from the ground and water. Multiple local, state, and military personnel will be involved in the five hour series of scenarios spanning Beaufort and Jasper counties.

Citizens in the areas of Clarendon Plantation and Bay Pines Rd in Beaufort County can expect to see helicopter traffic and rescue simulations throughout the day, as exercise participants are “rescued” and transported to a staging area at the Jasper County Airport in Ridgeland.

For further information, please contact Beaufort County Emergency Management Director Todd Ferguson at 843-255-4024 or Sgt. Robin McIntosh, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office PIO at 843-842-4111 ext. 275.
