LIBPA Announces April Guest Speaker: Dick Stewart

Dick Stewart, Chief Executive Officer, 303 Associates graduated from Beaufort High School in 1967, earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Georgia Southern University and an MBA from Mercer University.  He was a school teacher prior to a 25- year career in wireless telecommunications where he formed several successful wireless communications businesses.  Upon returning to Beaufort in 1998 he founded the real estate management company 303 Associates LLC and hospitality companies, which own the Beaufort Inn and the Quality Inn in Beaufort. 303 Associates is presently developing the Beaufort Town Center which, at this stage, provides over 300,000 square feet of commercial space, over 250 motel/hotel rooms and is the site of the first mixed use (residential and commercial) “GOLD LEED” certified building is our area and one of only 700 nationwide. His public service includes one term as a member of Beaufort County Council, service as Chairman of the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Lowcountry Economic Network.  He currently serves on the Boards of the Coastal Community Foundation, Chamber of Commerce, the LowCountry Regional Transit Authority and the Higher Education Trust. Additionally, Dick and his wife Sharon have provided funding to create the Port Royal Sound Fund.

Mr. Stewart has been requested to include in his discussion with our members the following subjects.

–  When the economy turns around what will the Beaufort business community look like?

–  Does the Northern Regional Plan have a positive impact on northern Beaufort County?

–  What types of businesses can and should our area realistically attempt to attract.

–  What is needed to better support small businesses in our area?

–  What should be the priority items of this state legislative session?

–  Thoughts on business survival during difficult economic times.

The LIBPA meeting is Tuesday, April 13th at 8 AM at the Sea Island Conference Center.
