Birding Gold Medal Olympic Event hosted by Fripp Island Audubon Club

The Fripp Audubon Club hosted a special program with the Center for Birds of Prey, Charleston, SC and presented to over 1000 students North of the Broad on Thursday, March 25th.  Steve Schabel, Education Director for the Center, brought a Harris Hawk, a Spectacle Owl and a Black Vulture, allowing students from Riverview Charter School, E.C. Montessori School, St. Helena Elementary and the Boys and Girls Club to observe them close-up and in flight!

The demonstration enhanced the children’s understanding and enjoyment of these birds and taught the enthusiastic students about the important work the Center is doing for their protection.

The Fripp Island Audubon Club was pleased to bring this program to so many students in one day. Pete Richards, President of the Club says, “We hope to introduce younger generations the wonderful world of birding.”
