Sheriff’s Office Investigating Armed Robbery

LADY’S ISLAND, SC (March 23/9:30 AM) – The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place at an unknown residence in the area of Mayfair Ct late last night.

Just after midnight, deputies responded to Beaufort Memorial Hospital in reference to an assault and armed robbery that reportedly occurred approximately 30 minutes earlier at a house party off of Sam’s Point Rd. The victim, a 30-year old male, advised he was visiting from Charleston and had been invited to a party by a local acquaintance.

While at the party, the victim stated he was approached by two unknown black males who asked to buy some jewelry he was wearing. The victim declined, but the suspects continued to insist. When the victim again refused, the suspects suddenly attacked him, striking him with a baseball bat and knocking him to the ground. The suspects then removed the victim’s jewelry and fled the area in an unknown direction.

Following the robbery, the victim ran to a family member’s home nearby where he got a ride to the hospital. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries to his arm/wrist for which he was treated and released. The victim was uncertain of the exact location of the incident, but based on his description of the area, it was believed to have taken place on Mayfair Ct.

One suspect was described as a black male, approximately 35 years of age, 6’02”, 210 lbs wearing a blue shirt with the “Echo” printed on the front, blue jeans, blue shoes, and hat. The second suspect was described as a black male, approximately 18-20 years of age, 5’09”, 165 lbs, wearing a red shirt with yellow writing, a red baseball cap with “B” on the front, and blue jeans.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
